What is Food Security? How do you meet your basic needs for food? Are you confident to always put enough food on the table?

Food Security, the basic needs of you, me and everyone in the world. However, being regretful to say that this is one of the deadliest problems the world has faced for a long time.

Simple explanation of “food security”. It means “everyone can get enough, safe, and nutritious food at any time to maintain a healthy and active life” – The World Food Summit.

It should not be luxurious, but something that each of us can use physically and financially. In terms of food security, Malaysian agricultural products are experiencing slow growth. This results from factors such as limited investment, aging farmers and lack of research and development.

In addition, land is used for urbanization, and youngsters are pursuring for white-collar jobs. Therefore, this also leads a strong dependency on imported products.

With these numbers of aspects, food security issues are much likely to remain prolongedly. Price of crops may continue to rise, residents especially lower income earners will be more signifcant in suffering expensive foods.
