BeST 2.0 Appreciation Ceremony Endorsed by YB Chang Lih Kang
BeST 2.0 Appreciation Ceremony is held on 18th July 2023. YB Chang Lih Kang, the current Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation participated. He announced that a total of 192 graduates successfully secured employment in 25 companies through the BeST 2.0 program.
He expresses confidently in the positive impact of BioAcademy BesT 2.0 programs for rapid economic growth in Malaysia. Additionally, these initiatives will nurture skilled workers and competitive bio-entrepreneurs, ready to thrive in the global market.
Moreover, the ceremony celebrated the success of both the participants and industry players involved in the specialized training.
Bioeconomy Corporation launched BeST 2.0 program
Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation (Bioeconomy Corporation) is a government agency to drive the development of the bioeconomy sector. The Bioeconomy Corporation plays a crucial role in promoting research, development, and commercialization of bio-based industries and technologies accordingly. Certainly aiming to enhance economic growth, create job opportunities, and address global challenges in a sustainable manner.
BeST 2.0 is a 6-month apprenticeship program created by the Bioeconomy Corporation which aimed at enhancing graduate employability. It provides real-life industry work experience at biotechnology, bio-based, agriculture/agro-food, and biopharmaceutical companies significantly.
This integrated program offers on-the-job training, industry-led skills, and technical knowledge. Meanwhile, exposure to develop graduates into industry-ready professionals with leadership skills and personal excellence. So can it make them highly desirable prospects for employers significantly.
HAVVA Agrotech Among Top 25 Selected Companies, trained and recruited 4 new talents!
So in the BeST 2.0 program, both local and foreign graduates participate as apprentices in host companies. Which is within the biotechnology and bio-based industries, including the bioprocessing and biopharmaceutical sectors overall.
At HAVVA Agrotech, we proudly trained and recruited 4 new talented individuals:
Abdurrahman Bin Kamarulariffin (IoT Engineer) in charge of Internet of things (IoT) and the cloud for tracking, monitoring, automating, and analyzing farm operations. He assists in integrating smart farming into HAVVAponics technologies such as sensors and data analytics to make remote monitoring possible and improve the quality of our vegetables. Secondly, Muhammad Yusuf Bin Abdul Wahab (Research Assistant), he majors in aquaculture. He involves in assisting with various tasks related to hydroponics research, such as conducting experiments, maintaining hydroponic systems, and contributing to research publications. Lastly, Muhammad Amirul Falieq Bin Baharuddin (Farm Specialist), and Nur Arriff Izzudin bin Ahmad Zaidi (Farm Specialist) will specialize in farm management, farm operation and assist another team to conduct experiments on the farm.
They underwent practical, technical, and on-the-job training for six months. So we are delighted to have offered them permanent positions at HAVVA Agrotech. These new talented individuals will play a crucial role in advancing smart farming through their expertise and contributions together with HAVVA simultaneously.
Strong Collaboration with 25 companies was crucial according to the CEO of Bioeconomy Corporation
Meanwhile, The CEO of Bioeconomy Corporation, Mr. Mohd Khairul Fidzal Abdul Razak, emphasized that strong collaborations with 25 biotechnology and bio-based companies were crucial for the success of the BeST 2.0 program.In the program’s first intake in 2021, notably, these companies hired 93% (59 out of 63 individuals) of the BeST 2.0 participants as permanent employees.
The unwavering support from industry players, including BioNexus and Bio-based Accelerator companies. They made it possible for Bioeconomy Corporation to successfully connect biotechnology and bio-based graduates with the necessary skills and qualifications required by the industry.
